He got it all out - right on CNN.  Wonder why he's not on with that other Jones guy.  What's his name?  All-excrement?

'Absurdity of gerrymandering': US Nazi is the only GOP contender for congressional seat

Holocaust denier Arthur Jones has been running for different offices since last century and failing, but in 2018 he is enjoying the spotlight. He is the only GOP candidate on the ballot for a Chicago-area congressional seat.

He is running unopposed on the ballot in the March 20 primary for Illinois' 3rd Congressional District, which includes a section of Chicago, in addition to Western Springs and La Grange.

And social media went crazy about it, with his name among the top 10 US trends Thursday morning.

The Illinois Republican Party has publicly distanced itself from him, but it cannot prevent him from running.

"We've tried to do everything we possibly could to prevent this person from getting on the ballot," Illinois GOP Chairman Tim Schneider said in a statement.

Jones has been active since the 70s in several US Nazi organizations and once said that the Holocaust is a lie "and nothing more than an international extortion racket by the Jews," according to the Anti-Defamation League. His campaign website includes a section entitled 'Holocaust?' which describes the Holocaust as "the biggest, blackest lie in history."

Since 1998, Jones has attempted to run for Congress in Chicago at least five times.

The December filing deadline for the March primary passed with no other Republican challenging Jones.

The district is heavily dominated by Democrats. Incumbent Representative Dan Lipinski  is in his seventh term and is one of the most right-wing Democrats in Congress.

And locals see it as a problem with how the election system, dominated by two parties, works.

As a writer in the local newspaper puts it, Jones' candidacy exposes "the absurdity of gerrymandering that creates districts where a major party feels it's pointless to expend the resources fielding a serious candidate."

Rules for candidate signatures mean that third party candidates encounter greater difficulty when seeking office.

Jones managed to get his five minutes of glory on CNN on Thursday. CNN's Alisyn Camerota looked askance as Jones claimed live on the air that the Holocaust is "an extortion racket."

I honestly believe that in three or four years a hardcore guy like this could seriously contend in congressional race. No today though, but a lot less people are not automatically going to hate a guy like this. I even think that CNN is making a fairly serious strategical error in even having this guy on considering how many people hate CNN.

Holocaust denier wins GOP congressional primary in Illinois

Holocaust denier Arthur Jones is now the Republican nominee in Illinois' third district after running unopposed.

Despite being denounced by the Illinois Republican Party, Arthur Jones emerged victorious in the House race on Tuesday night after failing to win the nomination five times before.

Jones, whose campaign website includes a section that claims the Holocaust is "the biggest, blackest lie in history," is a long-time neo-Nazi who was a former member of the Nationalist Socialist White People's Party and the American Nazi Party, according to the Anti-Defamation League.

"Arthur Jones is not a real Republican — he is a Nazi whose disgusting bigoted views have no place in our nation's discourse," the state's GOP chairman Tim Schneider said.

Jones, who was the only Republican to file for the office after the GOP failed to recruit a candidate, will now face the Democratic nominee in the 2018 midterm elections.

Rep. Dan Lipinski beat out progressive Marie Newman for the Democratic nominee with a lead of less than 2 percentage points with 97 percent of precincts reporting votes.

Newman, who said she would not concede until all the votes were counted, was little-known when she decided to challenge Lipinski for the seat he inherited from his father.

Illinois GOP aims to end Holocaust denier's run for Congress

CHICAGO — The Illinois Republican Party is ramping up efforts to make voters aware that an anti-Semitic activist and Holocaust denier who won the GOP nomination two years ago is again a candidate for the U.S. Congress, officials said.

Arthur Jones, 71, did not mention his contentious views to many voters when he asked them to sign petitions allowing him to appear on the ballot in the upcoming March primary, several people told the Chicago Sun-Times. In the 2018 Illinois congressional primary, he received 20,681 votes, according to the AP Election Research and Quality Control.

Anthony Sarros, executive director of the state's GOP, said the party is planning an awareness campaign that could include digital advertising, Facebook ads or mailers ahead of the primary, to lay out Jones' beliefs and remind voters that there are two other Republicans running.

"We want to make sure that the Republicans, Democrats, any Illinois citizens know that this is not a candidate that we support and we don't want him winning the election," Sarros said. "We hate this. We don't want this to happen and now I kind of want to know how this happened and how do we prevent this."

Jones is a retired insurance agent from Lyons who has run for the GOP nomination eight times before in the 3rd Congressional District, a heavily Democratic district stretching from Chicago's southwest side to suburban Western Springs and LaGrange. He's also an outspoken Holocaust denier, anti-Semite and white supremacist who founded the American First Committee, whose membership is exclusive to "any white American citizen of European, non-Jewish descent."

Jones, who could not be reached for comment, said before that his perspectives on the Holocaust are not an issue.

"It never comes up. When I got my signatures, nobody asked me about the damn Holocaust," Jones told the newspaper in 2018. "It's totally irrelevant to my campaign. Totally irrelevant."

Jones amassed 844 signatures in areas that include Palos Hills, Hickory Hills, Stickney, and Oak Lawn, records show. Slightly more than 600 signatures were needed to get on the ballot.

He also got one Chicago voter to sign his petitions after not obtaining any signatures in the city in 2018.

The focus of the congressional race has been on the rematch of Marie Newman, a progressive, and incumbent U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski, a social conservative. Rush Darwish, who runs a radio and TV production business, is also running in the Democratic primary.

Some of those who signed his petitions told the newspaper they did not know Jones' background.

Ronald Ogarek, a Palos Hills man who signed the petition prior to learning Jones' history, said he's a Republican and a President Donald Trump supporter, "but I don't support white supremacists."

"I had no idea that he was a neo-Nazi or a white supremacist," Ogarek added. "I would have kicked him out if I knew that."
