I'm guessing Fred Trump was a pretty notorious real estate developer at the time as well and maybe even ticked off one of the writers of the show. If Donny seems so much like this character, it could very well be that he isn't very unlike his own father. The idea of building a wall to keep out immigrants may have been an idea that his father had ranted about a lot.
