When the Rifle Range is More Collegial than the local Junior College

I used to post on TIU, then bought 15 acres in 2011 and suddenly had my hands full, planting fruit trees etc.

When I lived in Sonoma County I enjoyed taking classes at the local JC.

BUT where I live now, the local JC ... I tried taking a chemistry class because I wasn't satisfied with my college chemistry knowledge.

It was like taking a chemistry class - taught by the TSA !  (the organization that Gropes Grannies in the US.)

Anyway, I found that one of the most collegial places in the county was ... the local gun range.

I took pretty much every class they had.

Over time I developed a definite preference for longer, heavier barrels, on AR15 & AR10 platforms.

The 308 rifle in the picture only has a 20 inch barrel.  I have tried comparing it a few times to my 308's with the 24 inch barrel.  I shoot better with the 20 inch barrel.

BUT I'm not fond of re-coil.

There are 84 washers bolted to the forearm of the rifle in the picture.  They weigh 3/4 ounce each, so that 64.5 ounces - 4 pounds.

It helps a lot with re-coil !

ENTER COVID19.

Well, when all the gyms closed, the only places you could exercise with other people present = the golf course & the rifle range.

So I developed a new exercise habit ... walking 300 yards up the hill to change my targets at the 300 yard line.

The extra weight on the rifle is not a panacea.  I tried it on a 5.56 with a 24 inch barrel.  My clusters, which might normally be 4 to 6 inches in diameter at 300 yards, opened up to about 16 inches.

Adding the weight sometimes affects the barrel dynamics.

Anyway, just thought I would share a pic of my new hobby.

Thanks ! ! !

My last 30 day Facebook ban (for saying that Israeli Jews are Psychopaths, in a daily report that chronicles Israeli cruelty towards the Palestinians) ended about a month ago.

The Facebook login is something that comes in handy, not so I can post on FB, but so I can use FB Developers web page, and add a FB comments section to a web page.

The advantage of that ... FB doesn't censor posts made using FB comments, on another web host.

Anyway, it's a balancing act.  Will get re-censored by FB soon enough.

Will try adding links to the Classic "Israel did 9-11" page - on Facebook.  FB software conveniently auto-loads the page title - so everyone sees it.

That makes the diehard Jews spitting mad ... so you know it's working.
