Jewish actor Joshua Malina calls on Hollywood to cancel Mel Gibson over antisemitism
Gibson's 2004 film "The Passion of the Christ" received a controversial reception, including calling it an antisemitic reinforcement of Jewish responsibility for the death of Jesus.

Actor Joshua Malina, known for his roles on TV series such as The West Wing, The Big Bang Theory, Scandal and Shameless, called on Hollywood on Thursday to "cancel" known filmmaker and actor Mel Gibson over his alleged antisemitism.

Writing an article for The Atlantic, the Jewish actor responded to news of Gibson directing the fifth installment of the Lethal Weapon franchise, saying that he is a "well-known Jew-hater" and that "you couldn't pay me enough to work with Mel Gibson."

Malina compares Gibson to other controversial historical figures, and the fact that he is still living and working in the industry makes it more difficult to enjoy his artistic endeavors, according to Malina's argument.

The actor also states that if Gibson is still allowed to keep working despite antisemitic comments, then "cancel culture simply does not exist."

Gibson directed a 2004 film called The Passion of the Christ, which received controversial reception, including allegations of antisemitism, in that the movie was reinforcing antisemitic portrayals of Jewish responsibility for the death of Jesus.

The Anti-Defamation League's official response to Gibson's film states that: "For filmmakers to do justice to the biblical accounts of the passion, they must complement their artistic vision with sound scholarship, which includes knowledge of how the passion accounts have been used historically to disparage and attack Jews and Judaism."

Gibson's antisemitism, which Malina has described in his article as "consistent," has also been reported by Heathers and Stranger Things actress Winona Ryder, who also claimed that the Hacksaw Ridge director made homophobic statements. Ryder stated that Gibson asked her if she was an "oven dodger."

Gibson denied these claims, with his representative telling Variety that "this is 100% untrue. She lied about it over a decade ago, when she talked to the press, and she's lying about it now."

In June of last year, Basic Instinct screenwriter Joe Eszterhas stated on a podcast that he supported Ryder's claims of Gibson's antisemitism, saying that Gibson repeatedly called Jews "oven dodgers," "Hebes" and "Jew boys" around him.

Eszterhas also claims that Gibson said regarding Passion of the Christ: "What I really want to do with this movie is convert the Jews to Christianity."

However, the following month, a Republican congressional candidate for Florida's 22nd district decided to defend Gibson from all alleged antisemitic claims that he made.

Gibson also reportedly made a drunken antisemitic rant to a police officer, which damaged his reputation in the film industry.

'West Wing' Actor Joshua Malina Calls to 'Cancel Mel Gibson' in The Atlantic

"NBC's The West Wing actor Joshua Malina is urging the cancel mob to
surround and neutralize Mel Gibson, saying Hollywood should no longer
   hire the Oscar-winning Braveheart star.

In an essay for The Atlantic magazine, Joshua Malina cited recent
reports that Warner Bros. has signed Mel Gibson to direct Lethal Weapon
   5
, taking over from the late Richard Donner, who directed the four
previous movies. Gibson is also set to star in a John Wick origin
series for Starz and Lionsgate Television.

Malina, who also stars in ABC's Scandal, argued that Gibson's previous
anti-Semitic comments made during a DUI arrest 15 years ago should
disqualify him from working in Hollywood ever again. He omitted the
fact that Gibson has publicly apologized for the incident.

"There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who
thinks or expresses any kind of Anti-Semitic remark," Gibson said in a
statement in 2006. "I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the
Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a
law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge."

Gibson has also disputed allegations from actress Winona Ryder that he
made anti-Semitic comments to her. "This is 100% untrue," a spokesman
for Gibson told Variety last year. "She lied about it over a decade
ago, when she talked to the press, and she's lying about it now."

Malina also cited The Passion of the Christ as evidence of Gibson's
anti-Jewish bigotry, calling the movie "a gleeful attack on my people,
portraying Jews as eager Christ-killers, a libel that has been used as
an excuse to torment and murder Jews for two millennia."

Malina then exhumed Gibson's leaked phone calls to former girlfriend
Oksana Grigorieva in which the star verbally berated her using racist
   language.

"How can Warner Bros. (a company founded by Jews) possibly consider
hiring this man again?" Malina wrote in The Atlantic. "It is inarguably
true that the main targets of Gibson's prejudice are the Jews, but what
boggles my mind is that Hollywood is also overlooking his profound
misogyny and forays into anti-Black racism."

Malina — who has used his social media accounts to insult
then-President Donald Trump and his supporters — also referenced the
viral YouTube video apparently showing Gibson saluting Trump at a UFC
match between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor in Las Vegas in July.

"Let him [Gibson] take the hundreds of millions he's already earned in
Hollywood and retire somewhere nice to contemplate his life choices. I
hear the Judean Hills are lovely this time of year," Malina concluded.
"I write this knowing that it's more likely to lead to a boycott by
Warner Bros. of Joshua Malina than of Mel Gibson. But if that's the
   result, so be it."

Malina has publicly smeared Trump supporters as "stupid cocks," while
also calling them "homophobic," "misogynistic," "transphobic," and
   "anti-Semitic."

They're just ANGRY JEWS (they were already mad - they're Jews)

because Mel Gibson proved that he knows more history Drunk than they know Sober.

Powell Jobs is doing the world a favor by showing her status as Country Club wannabe.

But then she lives in Palo Alto, surrounded by Jews.
