2022 has been quite a Banner Year for the Gun-Grabbers in Oregon.

Josephine County Oregon has one of the biggest rifle ranges in the Western US.

It has a much more "collegial" environment than the local junior college, which is like high school - run by the TSA (another story).

I ended taking almost every Caliber class they (the rifle range) offers.

223/5.56
6.5 Grendel
224 Valkyrie
300 Hamr
350 Legend
450 Bushmaster (50 Beowulf, 458 Socom)

308/7.62x51
6.5 Creedmoor
243 Winchester

Still haven't gotten over to the Shotgun/ Skeet shooting side of things, but that is probably inevitable.

Earlier in 2022, there was a Kerfuffle about the county's insurance company complaining the rifle range.

The logical reaction to this would be to implement practices which reduce risk.  I don't want to detail safety shortfalls - because gun-grabbers might read this - but there is room for improvement, at a range with a perfect official safety record.  The only litigation has been related to some woman slipping & falling in the parking lot.

So the county was talking about "giving away" the rifle range, to the rifle range organization.  As in, Divide and Conquer.

This produced a lot of debate at county meetings and then SUDDENLY - it also has a HOMELESS ISSUE.

There is a county rule that homeless need to be welcome in county parks.  AND SUDDENLY there was a single instance of homeless people walking 3 miles so they could camp in the rifle range area.

That should have been a red flag right there, but the County Commissioners do not work for the General Public.

Now in November, 2022, Measure 114 has passed.

This has the effect of turning Oregon from one of the most liberal states re. firearms, to one of the most restrictive states.

There will be a ban on sales of new magazines above 10 rounds (I own more than one larger capacity magazine).

And there will be a new "Firearms Permit".

BUT the state has no mechanism for giving people a firearms permit.  Which means they're effectively shutting down the 2nd Amendment in Oregon.

For that reason, a local gun store owner that I talked to is "optimistic" that there will be a Stay on implementation of Measure 114.

Which of course depends on the judge.

Who is pushing the gun-grabbing ?

Mostly, a Jew in Portland, Rabbi Cahana, who came from the East Coast to push Gun-Grabbing on rural Oregon.

To give you an idea of the response to Measure 114, there is normally a wait of about 800 customers.

You fill out ATF Form 4473, and then the store's computer does a criminal background check.

Normally for me this takes about 20 minutes.

I decided to finally order a handgun, since I have learned mostly about semi-auto rifles.

I expect it will be better to fill out the forms and then come back a day or week later.

The wait is now 4000 customers and growing.

Maybe some good will come of this - rural Oregon will separate from Portland-dominated Oregon.

For those who are starting out with semi-auto rifles, I recommend the 300 Ham'r in AR15, and 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor in AR10.

With as long a barrel as you can get.  The difference between a 16 inch barrel and a 24 inch barrel is huge.
Planet of the SWEJ - It's a Horror Movie.
