sraeli lawmaker, Itamar Ben Gvir, has called for the resumption of targeted assassinations of Palestinians and demanded the immediate formation of the ruling coalition following the Jerusalem bombings, Haaretz reported on 23 November.

"We must return to targeted assassinations; we must impose a curfew on the village where the terrorists come from; we must put an end to [summer] camps in security prisons. It is time to establish a right-wing government as soon as possible and to put more restrictions on prisoners convicted of security crimes," Ben Gvir said.

The Israeli lawmaker made these comments at the scene of one of two explosions that went off near bus stops in Jerusalem on 23 November, killing one person and injuring at least 22.

According to Hebrew Channel 12, the IEDs were placed on the roadside and attempted to target fully occupied buses using a remote-detonation mechanism.

One of the two IEDs failed to detonate near its target and hit a vehicle behind it. The delay in the cellphone connection contributed to the failure of one of the attacks.

Nonetheless, the other explosion successfully hit a bus and caused the majority of injuries, which vary between light and critical.

On the other hand, earlier this week, Likud sources claimed that the incoming government would pass a law to give the Public Security Minister greater control over the police and oversight of police budgets, according to an agreement reached between Prime Minister-elect Benjamin Netanyahu and Ben Gvir, Al-Awast reported.

Also, on 21 November, Netanyahu reached a compromise with the head of the Religious Zionist Party, Bezalel Smotrich, allowing the Lukid Party to retain the defense portfolio while Smotrich is set to become the country's finance minister, according to Israeli Channel 12.

Smotrich previously insisted on becoming the Israeli defense minister to control the decision-making over the occupied West Bank.

On the same day, the far-right leader called Palestinian human rights groups an "existential threat," claiming that the Palestinian resistance group Hamas operates these groups, according to the Middle East Eye.
