QuoteA United Nations human rights investigator calls on the Israeli leadership to cease the construction of the now 7-year old Apartheid Wall in the West Bank.

"Tear down that wall, Mr. Netanyahu," said the UN special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, Richard Falk on Thursday addressing the Israeli prime minister, UN News Center reported.

He made the comments in The Hague at a conference on the fifth anniversary of the International Court of Justice's (ICJ) issuance of the Advisory Opinion which denounced Tel Aviv's erection of the 723-kilometer (449-mile) barrier as illegal.

"There will be no peace between these two peoples until Israel shows respect for Palestinian rights under international law," said Falk. "And a good place to start would be with the wall," he added.

In 2002, the Zionist regime started building the barrier in the West Bank village of Ni'lin, arrogating vast expanses of Palestinian land under the pretext of "protecting" Israeli settlers from "terrorist attacks" by the Palestinian resistance movements. In comparison, the Berlin wall was only 155 kilometers in length.

In response to Falk, the Israeli Foreign Ministry issued a statement claiming that the ICJ's "attack" was a result of "a politically-motivated maneuver."

"Israel cannot accept this politicization of the Court... If there were no terrorism, there would be no fence," said the statement. "Israel calls on the international community not to lend its hand to the ongoing Palestinian attempts to use international forums to avoid fulfilling their own commitment to fight terrorism."

i wish the UN had the teeth to stop the settlers that keep stealing land and to enforce measures like this wall.

but they don't, and there's no reason to expect that they will.

i think the Gazan people are at danger as long as they are subject to the cruelty of the Israeli's.  which they will be, as long as they live in the Gaza.  right now the Israeli policy is the slow, horrifically cruel & sadistic genocide of the Palestinian people.

i see a parallel to this in the destruction of very ancient sacred mosques and libraries in Iraq, there was no military reason.  they destroyed those buildings to destroy the culture - it is not a coincidence.

the policy we see now has been in place since 1948, for 61 years.  more if we count the military activities of the Irgun (1931-1948, an Israeli terror group).  perhaps not coincidentally, a member of the Irgun now has managed to place his son in the White House (Rahm Emanuel), and his other son is the heir apparent of Michael Ovitz, the top Jewish talent agent in Hollywood 20 years ago.

their father was in the Irgun.

i.e., there's no reason to expect policy towards the Palestinians to change.

that's why i believe the most compassionate response to the situation in the Gaza is to find homes and land outside the Gaza for 1.5 million people.  if Israel had 1/2 a brain, they'd take their military budget and just buy them the land.  people who have farms to tend are less likely to blow themselves up - i would think the Israeli's would have figured this out.  they could easily peel off 1/2 of their military budget (if they weren't obligated to spend it on US military hardware) and BUY new farmland for 1 1/2 million Palestinians.  $1 1/2 billion will buy a lot of land.

but the Israeli's seem to have this pathological stupidity and cruelty towards the Palestinians.  that plus their infiltration & domination of the US & the UN lead me to think that the most compassionate solution for the Palestinians is re-location to good arable farmland.

if i can think of this, why can't the Israeli's ?
