On the first anniversary of Minister for Finance Lenihan's decision to gaurantee the debts of all the Irish banks, RTE TV's 'Prime Time' is now screening a special report into the crisis:
including damning archive footage of Cohen - er, Cowen - and other public officials lying through their teeth saying that the banks were in excellent shape and could easily weather any financial storm;
economist and FG TD, George Lee expresses the public's outrage at the govt's chronic mismanagement of the nation's fiscal affairs;

in a seperate report on the show by the excellent investigative reporter Mike Millote, the exploding epidemic of illegal hard drug use in Ireland is explored;

Do you know what? I am having great difficulty in restraining myself from shouting out loud (as Peter Finch's character Howard Beale did in 'Network):

                                                          "I'M AS MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!"

These feckers have ruined my country, decimating the savings and livelihoods of thousands of irish people, and have no conscience about having done so; I can see how Daryl feels now when it seems nothing we say or do legally has any effect on them, the words 'accountability' and 'responsibility' are unknown to them; even 'throwing the scoundrels out' at the next election only allows another brand of the same self-serving, toxic gang take over the reins to ride us further into misery;

I'm certain that countless Irishmen are now wondering  what our late, great patriot freedom fighters gave their lives for---for this shower of gobshites, busy trying to strip us of our hard-won sovereignty and freedoms! NO, I say NO! Not another INCH (or centimetre) shall you drag us down the road to serfdom!!

I can't help recalling the words of one of my great heroes, Thomas Francis Meagher, a native of Waterford city close to me, who said:

'The man that will listen to reason -- let him be reasoned with, but it is the weaponed arm of the patriot that can alone prevail against battalioned despotism.'
